Section 1: Review
(Approx 150 words)
|
|
I worked on my unit one and two to gain more knowledge
about other types of pathways such as fine art, textile, wirework, as I
thought this would be useful when I decided my pathway. I learnt many
techniques some of these were spot welding and screen printing. I have learnt
a great deal throughout this course. I have improved and gained more experience
within photography I have also put all my previous experience of photography
skills into practise within my work this year. My assignments will expand on
my experience on the course and as the year progresses by the knowledge I
will have gained and learnt over this year. I will be taking a great
amount of critical reflection within my work from tutors and my peers to
improve my work when needed. My project will also build on the idea’s I gain
through experimenting through this year.

Section 2: Project
Concept (approx 250 words)
|
|
Throughout this course I will be looking closely at
events that have impacted on the community such as trams and the closure of
the royal infirmary. I am also looking closely into architectural detail of
the buildings within the Blackburn area. I am going to make a large part of
my assignment based on the cotton and weaving mills which were the hub of
this small town. My aim is to experiment with using different techniques to
incorporate the use of angles within my images. Using different mediums
within this project would help to improve my outcome, as I aim to interview
the ex-mill workers from the era of when the cotton and weaving mills were
thriving, I will be looking to incorporate this audio sound interviews into
my work. I want to explore different printing by researching different
techniques such as layering images on top of each other, I will further this
investigation through using these influences to produce my own
experimental pieces of which I would layer my photographs on to old survey
maps of the Blackburn area. I will reflect these ideas through having peers
critics to see which outcome works best. My main thought with this project is
to document how times have changed over the years. I am going show this by
layering new modern day Blackburn photographs over the top of old survey map
of the town.

|
Section 3:
Evaluation (approx 100 words)
|
|
I am intending to provide
layered images of Blackburn to help show the viewer’s how the town has
changed over the years. I will be evaluating my work as I go along through
this project, I will sustain this by evaluating my work thoroughly I will do
this by getting one to one tutorial feedback and peers critics, I will also
update my blog as a means of a self-evaluation and reflection throughout this
project.

Proposed Research Sources and
Bibliography (Harvard Format)
|
|
Having being
influenced by various photographers ranging from documentary and landscape
photographers some examples of my influences are; Richard Billingham, Mary
Ellen Mark, Martin Parr, Denis Thorpe and Ian Beesley. I took great interest
in Ian Beesley series of photographs named ‘’the street’’ as this is who
influenced me into documenting Blackburn’s history. I need to visit a varied
amount of galleries and museums to gather as much information. Also i will
need to loan books out of the library for research and back ground
information for my project. I will gather a small amount of research from the
internet which I can’t access anywhere else.
