FINAL MAJOR PROJECT IDEA'S

I am aiming to document the changes within the small historical town of Blackburn from before the 1900's up until today 2014, I am aiming to explore and document some of the biggest changes which have happened over the years between before the 1900's up until now. These changes are big and small within this town some of these changes include the era of the trams changing to buses, The cotton and weaving industry as the cotton and weaving mills were thriving within this time in Blackburn and was the main hub of this small community town. I am also focusing on how pubs which were once the main social meeting places for the men to relax after work has now been transformed into other means of buildings such as house's,schools,youth clubs. I will be looking closely in to the architecture and artifacts within the old buildings and how it has changed over the many years.

I am wanting to use audio within my work using a voice recorder to record the older generation of people which have worked in the cotton and weaving industry to use within the experimenting and presentation of my work. I am wanting to capture images of the cotton and weaving mills which are no longer working mills but are still standing today, I will be interviewing men and women who have worked in the weaving and cotton industry in times gone by to see how Blackburn has changed over the years and also ask there opinion on how they have watched it changed over the years. I will be working on this project in depth I will be fulfilling this by going in depth and exploring and research within the town such things as; architecture, the change of public transport and how it has affected peoples lives over the years.

Some of the photographers I will be researching are: 

• Ian Beasley 
• Denis Thorpe 
• Richard Billingham

I chose to look closely as a starting point looking at these three main Photographer as they are documentary photographers, Denis Thorpe also has a great amount of landscape images that have helped to inspire me and give me a starting by developing my ideas.

Richard Billingham. 

Richard Billingham Born in 1970, a photographer and video artist. He graduated from the university of Sunderland in the year of 1994 where he took part in his first group exhibition at the Barbican art gallery in London. The project that Billingham became best known for the project where he photographed activities at his family home where he photographed over a period of time from 1990 were it began to intend for paintings. The photographs that Richard Billingham captured was often humerus documentation of the emotional and sometimes violent relations ships between his parents and brother. They are known for there extraordinary sympathy they explore there subject and the domestic environment. All Billinghams prints Black and white and colour prints are mounted on aluminium unframed and untitled which suggest that they should be looked at within a series rather than solo images. The photographs were published as a series for the first time in book form in 1996. Billingham also produced videos that explore his family life and equally equivalent to the series of the photographs he produced of his family.

Evaluation
I chose to use the photographer Richard Billingham in my research as he is a documentary photographer who inspires me with his work these two photographs i chose to use in my research show composition within both images the bottom image is very symmetrical which I really like within a photograph.
and in the photograph above shows how his mother and father lived and as you can see its very meaningful and the photograph can be looked at many different points.
I have looked at the documentary's of Richard Billingham and in my opinion the photographs are very strong and make you feel as though you know more of the story than you actually do. 
Martin Parr. 

Martin Parr started his professional photography in the early 1970's. He was first seen for his one of his pieces of work first one being his black and white bad weather photographed his second piece being as well as a fair day in North England.

In 1984 he began working in colour photography parr's documentary work is often described as intimate Digital Photography technologies has let him closely experimented with subjects within their own environment.

When Parr created his signs of the Times a portrait of the Nations treat in 1988 he started to document ordinary peoples house to capture images of them doing their everyday activities. He then combined there photographic images with different quotes that came from the subject he captured. The outcome to this was the subjects viewers had different responses some said they didn't know if to cry or laugh. 

I chose to use Martin Parr within my work as he produced document work which I took great interest in I chose to use these two images as photographs number one tells a story about Martin Parr himself as he is well known for wearing sandles and socks and as you can see in this image he has captured his foot with the sock and sandle on as the subject and used the busy beach behind to set the scene showing were he is. In the second photograph it looks as though there are two sisters possibly twins with what looks as though the one behind in a bit more timed and shy than the one in front and she is investigating the situation.

Ian Beesley  

Ian Beesley worked in a mill as a laborer after he left school in 1972. The mill was associated wavers of Dudley hill Bradford.

It was at Estolt in 1973 that Ian Beesley purchased his first camera and started to photograph his work mates with there encouragement he then decided to apply for the foundation course in art situated at Bradford Art College  and started this course in 1974.

He then went on to further his studying at Bournemouth and Poole college of art where he then graduated with double distinctions in documentary and editorial photography in 1977.

Evaluation 

I choose these two photographs as i favored them more than any of the others he had produced he is also another documentary photographer, these two photos are completely different one being of children playing on a street corner with an old bicycle, also there is a man in the background which looks as though he is waiting to cross the road. The younger boy which is looking at at the camera is inspecting the situation he also looks the oldest child there and may have the responsibility's to keep the other children safe. I chose this second photograph as it fits into my work with documenting Blackburn as this mill town and this photograph shows the mills and chimneys working. 

Mary Ellen Mark. 

Mary Ellen Mark has achieved world wide visibility through her many books and exhibitions and magazine work. Mary Ellen  contributed her photography to the New Yorker and has published many photo essays  and portraits in various publications such as LIFE and New York Times. For over 49 years Mary Ellen traveled extensively to capture images that reflect a high degree of humanism. Today Mary Ellen Mark is known one of our most influenced and most respected photographer, Her photographs of our world's diverse cultures have become landmarks in the field of documentary photography. She produced a photo-essay based on runaway children in Seattle became the basis of the academic awards nominated film STREETWISE, directed and photographed by her husband, Martin Bell. 

    

I chose to use these two images from Mary Ellen Marks photography as they really stand out to me. Photograph number one tells alot of story's when you look closely into this image it looks as if this is a poor family including mother, father and two small children they all have very black, sad,upset expressions on their faces as if they could be homeless or very poor the car they are in is scruffy and tatty this is shown through the tatty seat which is ripped and looks as though the stuffing is coming out of it.
I choose image number two as this shows the love this women has for this dog its pure also the background wallpaper looks very retro and old fashioned maybe this is the only dog that this women has to rely on to be her best friend.

Denis Thorpe. 

Denis Thorpe was a guardian photojournalist between the years of 1974 and 1966 whilst Thorpe was in this job he was well placed to record the upheaval in the British, Political and cultural landscape from the reporters of the miners strikes and strange ways not to celebrity portraiture and travelogues, he captured photograph's of the essence of the age as a new retrospective demonstrates. 

In Denis Thorpe fifty years work span he had behind him through a combination of sheer professionalism, discipleship and artistic merit had achieved more than most of his early role models, Thorpe  had won many awards which included the 1979 world press photo gold medal Ilford photographer of the year in 1988

''In Denis Thorpe every working photographer has a living inspiration to look more closely at our crazy world in which each portrait, every scene has a story to tell''.

Denis Thorpe's work is also documentary i chose these two as the Ribble Head Viaduct i really like how he has used the natural lighting to his advantage making harsh shadows which really make this photograph come to life. and also the second image is very good composition which really caught my eye as its almost symmetrical this is shown with the two signs with the two signs on either side of the walls the two men and the other two people which are in the upper area of this building. I also like the texture within all the brick work it really makes the buildings stand out from this image.
Also the bottom photograph looks as though it could be a corner shop based in Italy and it looks like it is based under an empty apartment.

Unit 6 UAL Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design

I attended a Ucas fair which was very helpful by giving me prospectuses and actually talking to people from the university's I am wanting to attend.

        I discussed with various tutors about my options I was thinking about attending. I spoke to Martyn at the beginning of the course where he advised to to have a look at London university and also Newport university in the south of Wales I went away and researched these university as I am aiming to specialise in documentary photography but I just didnt think they were for me as of Health issues with my specialist being based in Preston it just wouldn't of been practical. I went away and researched other university close to home which I took great interest in University of Bolton, Manchester Metropolitan, and Blackburn university. My first choice is Bolton university as it specialisehttp://www.blackburn.ac.uk/about-blackburn-college/college-buildings/ucbc/s in documentary photography. 

These are the choices I applied for through my UCAS application:-

I discussed these options with Jamie and martyn about my choices.

I have been building my portfolio as I have been invited for an interview at UCBC blackburn university on the 5th March at 10am. 

I am also going to Bolton university open day on the 29th march to have a look around.  

Personal statement:- 

I am currently studying a Foundation Diploma in art and media at Blackburn College. I came to photography through an unusual route, I was studying an NVQ in hairdressing at school, I had to chose an enhancement course to go along side my main pathway. I chose photography and this is where my real journey began. I decided to finish Hairdressing and went on to enrol at Blackburn College where I studied for two years and obtained an Extended National Diploma Level 3 in Photography. For my final major project, I documented whippet racing and produced three double A0 prints that were praised during the final exhibition. The Lancashire EveningTelegraph came and asked if they could photograph me with my work and review the photographs for the local paper. This inspired me to take a further year to develop my ideas, skills and experiences and enrol on the UAL foundation at Blackburn College. I approached this as a third year, but one where I would meet new students, develop my portfolio, work with new staff and fully prepare for university. In my current work, I have chosen to document the lives of Homeless people, and also people who have addictions such as alcoholism and drug addicts. I am aiming to go in to a rehab and document the recovery progress and the impact that addiction has on the day to day lives of the subjects. I also intend to explore the mental health issues that these controlling addictions have on peoples lives, depicting the physical and mental impact that addiction has on a person. In my spare time I take great pleasure in experimenting in different types of photography such as shooting on 35mm film and developing my images in a darkroom and also digital photography I have great passion in landscape photography. My main hobby however is a northern cliche, but it is one that I am passionate about. I breed and race whippets. I am a successful trainer and my dogs have won many races and awards. I apply to you from the heart of Blackburn, a twenty year old whippet trainer. No flat cap, just a desire and commitment to develop as a documentary photographer and succeed at degree level.

   I have also had a varied amount of tutorials with Jamie which has helped me choosing the university I am wanting to attend which i have talked about the pros and cons of each university also talked about the courses they are offering. As i am wanting to specialise in documentary photography I research Bolton university knowing they offered documentary photography and writing down the pros and cons within this uni it was clear that it would be the right choice for my education to further it self.


Building  my portfolio hasn't seemed to be the most easiest of tasks to comply with, from choosing the correct photographs out of a wide range of images to the quality the images i printed to also presented them, iv had lots of feedback off all three tutors jamie, jo and martyn. i have acted on this by reprinting my first lot of photographs on better quality paper, when i backed my first images onto white card i used double sided tape as i asked Jo and she advised me on using that as spray mount/photo mount can leaves unnecessary inky dirty finger prints on the white card but after a while my images started to wrinkle and wasn't presentable. Martyn advised me on getting a portfolio box which i have looked into but seem to be very high priced and out of my budget at the moment, i will think about this in the near future when presenting my photographs.

I got my Interview date through from UCBC which i was using as a practise run for my Bolton interview to prepare me the best i could as i have never been in the university interview procedure before. i spoke to jo the day before briefly who spoke about being confident and talking about my work when in the interview. i attended my interview which was at half past nine with richard but i ended up having it with Martyn i didnt see the interview as being a structure university interview it was more of a one to one talk, he criticise the quality of work and the quality of printing and also the way i presented my portfolio. also it made me think about how to word things next time also. 
i acted on this by looking at portfolio boxes to present my work in but it wasn't a fee's able amount of money at this time. Also I asked other peoples opionion on presenting work my cousin works at preston college as a photography lecturer so i got in touch to see what she thought and her response was all of her students present there portfolios mounted on white card in a portfolio case the same way as i did for my blackburn interview so i am thinking of keeping it the same way for bolton but maybe looking at reprinting images. My interview skills are very basic and not very proffessional so i will be working on these with her to help me with a better chance at Bolton uni. 

I spoke to my cousin who then gave me a list of interview questions that i may be asked at my interview at bolton university, this was the feedback she gave me:

A) I am aiming to gain a BA in photography, also i am aiming to get more experience in

 work experiece to gain alot of experience in the work place.

3 What do you want to do in the furture.
A) i am wanting to start my own business in documentary photography.

A) Documentary photography

5) What do you have to offer the university?
A) A wide range of skills and great enuthiasum in documentary photography.

7)Why do you want to study photography?
A) photography is my main intrest i find it very knowledgable. i like to experiement using the

 dark room to develop 

films and experiement using cyanotype.

6) why should we accept you onto the course? what will you bring?
a) i will bring enuthsiaum and my knowlege from 3 years of studying an ND level 3

 photography course and a year on a foundation degree in art and design.

8) What is your strength?
A) i see myself as a perfectionist and i will not give up until it is to high enough standards. 

also my strengths are experiementing i 

find myself really good at expereimenting with films and cyanotypes.

9) What do you hope to explore, examing and extend at university?
A) i am wanting to explore documentary in great detail to help me fulfill my choosen career

 i would like to extend my barriers

 of working and explore different working envirorments whilst photographing.

10) Which is your best piece of work in your portfolio.
A) My dog photography is my best peice of work this is showing movement within the 

photo which helps to bring the photograph to life this had a great response at my final

 major project last year where 3 of these images were blown up on a large scale and 

hung freelely from the celining over the 

infinity curve. were the telegraph took great intrest who then interviewed me and i

 ended up in the Lancashire evening telegraph.

11) What do you consider as your worst piece of work? how would you improve this?
A) I consider my photograph of the dog in the studio as my worst peice of work as its very plain 

and its exactly what you see but it shows that i have experience within the studio, it could be

 used as an adversitising photograph as its very what you see is what you get. What i would

 change about this image would be the compostion of the dog as 

id change how you can see all four legs and make it so its stood so you can only see 

2 legs and maybe experiement on the angle i photograph to see what the difference the

 outcome would be.

12) Why do you want to study in this city? what does it have to offer you?
A) I am wanting to study at this university as i think it fulfills what i need to comply with to 

further my career and also as it specalising in my overall subject documentary photography.


13) Have you attended open days? what did  you think?
A) I am attending the open day on the 28th (i think i need to check) i have booked my appointment.

14) Have you spoke to other students on the course?
A) can i say no here? a little bit unsure what to say about this because i haven't?

I found this feedback very helpful for my interview.

My original interview for Bolton university was arranged for the 19th march 2014 but I was ill

so i contacted Jamie who helped me out by contacting Bolton uni to cancel my interview.

I then went onto UCAS and re-booked my interview date for Monday 31st March 2014

Within this time i wasn't  too happy with my quality of printing for my portfolio but when i had

looked into getting them printed professionally to have had the amount of images printed I

needed would of come to around £250-£300 making each individual cost around £9.60 each

on glossy paper so with this i looked into buying myself a A3 printer which worked out cheaper 

than to actually 

than to actually send away to get them printed professionally where I then printed my images 

to a high quality standard.

This is a photograph of my printed images.

These photographs apart from two of them are A3 and there is two that work really well together which I printed A4 so I could mount them together on one piece of mounting card but the rest I decided worked well on there own so mounted my images just one image on each piece of mount card which I will then put into order within my portfolio case. 

Bolton University Open Day. On the 29th March I am attending Bolton University Open day, which starts at 9am through till 3pm I am hoping to speak to students which are studying on the course I will be wanting to be on to study my degree in photography to hear about the course from students which are on it and the pros and cons within the course from someone who is studying there.

I attended Bolton university open day on Saturday the 29th March, which I found really helpful and gave me loads of information which I didn't know. whilst I was there i attended a presentation on arrival about student finance and budgeting which i thought was really helpful and went through step by step in depth about what money I will receive and when I need to start applying and also about accommodation and also about budgeting your money correctly to make sure it lasts you the length of time before your next payment.

I spoke to a tutor one to one whilst waiting for the photography talk, who was very genuine and told me to look also look at other reviews of university on unistats before accepting your choices. 

I then waited till half past one where I then went on a tour of the photography department and obtained a talk with the tutor about the course structure and the facilities where he then answered any queries any body had.
I found the photography department very well equipped and spacious where there was four studios 2 smaller ones for small objects and 2 big ones for models ect all four studios were kitted out brilliantly all lights on concertina brackets hung from the ceiling which were moveable all ways and angles which I thought was really great way to have lights also all types of back drops, small,large,black,white,textured and others all on reels attatched to the wall for easy access. also had great acress to equipement that i would be using on the course such as a large format camera, DSLR camera and other equipment i will be making great use of. we was also shown around the darkroom facility's which they had different rooms for each bit of film photography such as a a room for putting your film into the reels which had sinks, red lights which was small but would be fine for what you use them for, then they had there main dark room which was very thought out where I was told they have enough room for 15 - 20 max students working in there but mostly 15 students it was very spacious with a big main sink with all the developing chemicals in trays for B/W and Colour processes They had a large amount of enlargers. The last developing room we got shown around was a room that had all cutting boards and drying racks and dryers where the students can dry, size and frame there work in a work space made for that area of photography. We got shown around about 7 Mac rooms all furnished with Apple Macs with all the software we will be using on them and in each mac room there was space for people to do other kinds of work such as written work etc. 

We then went back in to studio 2 to have our talk where he told us about the sturcture of the course broke down into the 3 years we will be studying Photography which was:

Year One:   Learning new things such as writing essays using the correct language, using other mediums within photography if you haven't used them before, and getting everyone up to the same pace ready for the second year.

Year Two:  You will be given work experience if you wanted and also a chance to photograph football matches at Bolton with a pass to get you in to photograph either the managers, the match itself or the players before or after the match which gives you experience within working professionally and to time scales which I think is a great opportunity to peruse your career forward within the photography industry whilst also working on projects along side these opportunity's they offer you. 

Year Three:  In your third year you should be familiar with all types of lighting and camera's by this stage and will be expected to work with all different mediums to complete assignments within this year you are to write your own assignments which it will be structured for 2 major projects and exhibitions within this too.

I found the Open day very helpful and interesting I thought the facility's that Bolton university offer was to a high standard and a nice environment to be working in.


Bolton University Interview.

I attended Bolton University Interview on Monday 31st March at 10 am I was interviewed by a Photography Tutor James William, we begun by him just chatting to me about photography in general getting an idea of what i want to do within my 3 years achieve a degree and what directions I could go after obtaining a degree in photography he then looked through my portfolio where he then said 'Would it be ok to offer you an unconditional place' we then spoke about my cyanotypes quite a lot and he complemented my work where i documented Whippet racing, he also gave me a few lessons which I took on board on a way to make my photographs better which i thought was very helpful, he talked me through what would be expected from me and what the 3 years fulfil he also spoke about me looking into moving images if I accept my place which will help me document which I want to do.  
I took a portfolio of 25 Photographs a mix range of studio and location and documentary photographs, I also took a 500 word hand written writing and my 3 sketch books which was asked for.
I asked the question of how do they expect our work to be presented sketch book or blog, where he replied mostly sketch book but because i am wanting to document i may use blogs also to help me with that. I thought the interview went very well and was pleased with the out come.

As Bolton university is my first option I am now waiting for UCAS to update so i can accept my place. 
I have updated my UCAS and accepted my place and I have started to apply for my student finance 

   

Photographs.

Photograph number one: 

This is a photograph out of a series I captured when I decided to document whippet racing,

These are the jackets that the dogs wear to run the races in.

I really like this image, it has very deep shadows diagonally across this photograph which

I think it makes it look very contrasty and makes it an interesting photograph to look at.

This image I captured in the studio using a box to lay the jackets evenly in and 2 studio floor

lights with honey combs with the light being diagonally across the image helping to produce 

these harsh shadows and the camera directly above the image at a far enough distance away 

to capture the whole photograph.

Photograph Number Two.

This photograph is another one out of the series I produced when documenting whippet racing,

i captured this image in the studio using just one honey comb lighting from the top left corner of the rosette.

This is a photograph of a rosette and a winners jacket which is received by dogs which win the main races within an event. The composition within this photograph is very central and its very ascetically pleasing the constrasts from the jacket are dark to the rosette being very bright I think this is very strong but really tells a story about what they are. 

Photograph Number Three.

This photograph is also another one out of the series I photographed in the studio when I was documenting Whippet Racing. This is one of my strongest images out of all the studio shots, I photographed this image on a piece of metal with the light shining from the bottom left hand corner diagonally so the light just hit the outline of the image to define the edges to make it stand out, I like how the light hitting the metal has reflected the light onto the metal and added a lot more effect within this photograph. This is a muzzle which a dog would wear whilst raining.  

Photograph Number four.

This photograph is another one like the one above it, I think this isn't as good as the one above it isn't as ascetically pleasing as the one above. but I used the same set up as the one above but from a slightly different angle which i think works well but not as good as out come as the first one. you can see the glow around the buckle on the muzzle which makes it stand out very clearly and you can see the detail within this photograph.

Photograph Number five. 

This photograph is a photograph of one of my dogs in the studio this is very clear clean image it is exactly what you see its very subtle, and very eye catching as its very plain and not to busy, the contrast between the background and the browns is very defined which help to make the dog stand out from the background. 

Photograph Number six.

This photograph is one that I captured of a dog in motion I researched a photographer named Edward Muybridge and he did photographs showing motion so I decided to use long exposures track side to capture the dogs in motion. This is just one of three of my finals I produced.

Photograph Number seven

This photograph is of my model in a bath full of feathers, giving the meaning of hoarding feathers I decided to sit my model in a bath of feathers to show the hoarding side of the photographs.

This is a photograph which I was experimenting with using colour I don't think it gives the photograph its full potential and meaning within the subject so I decided to use black and white for the other photographs I captured.

Photograph Number eight.

This photograph is another image of my model hoarding feathers in the back where she has got her hands full of them looking directly into the camera with an expressionless face.

I like the use of black and white within this photograph and the vignette around the edges on the image. 

Photograph Number Nine.

This photograph is another one of the series, This is a very meaningful photograph

as you can see the happiness this model gets from looking at the feathers they have collected and kept safe for so long. 

The black and white tones within this image is very soft and gentle to the photograph.

Photograph Number Ten.

This photograph is very harshly edited I'm not sure it really works within this subject but i experimented but don't think I got the outcome I wanted, maybe next time I photograph and edit an image like this I will use softer tones within the photograph. 

 Photograph Number eleven. 

This photograph i captured from straight above the subject capturing the whole of the bath, I used a light off a phone which pointed towards the model, I edited this using black and white and vignette around the outside which I chose to use a dark one to make the model stand out. 

Photograph Number Twelve.

This is a photograph of a sink with tooth picks in, the subject is hoarding tooth picks, I used the blue contrast over this photograph as I think it helps give a negative dull feeling about this photograph, its very cold and defining colour to use in a subject so strong.

Photograph Number Thirteen.

This photograph is one I captured in Italy in Piza ''Leaning tower of Piza.''

I really like the use of the sepia tones within this image as it gives a feeling of an old photograph, I really like the fact of the people in the bottom of the image as it makes this photograph more of a documentary piece of work.

Photograph Number Fourteen.

This is another photograph I captured whilst in Italy this is a landscape image I captured in Florence. I used tilt shift on this photograph to define the depth of field within this photograph. The black and white within this photograph is very subtle and soft tones.

Photograph Number Fifteen 

This photograph is one that I captured at Whilshire train station I used depth of field within this photograph and a slight bit of shallow depth of field also to capture this photograph I think the blur of the train tracks in the back ground really help the texture of the stone stand out really extensively.

Photograph Number Sixteen

This is a Landscape photographed I captured at Ribchester i really like how its took from a height and also captures the trees arching over the river. The Stones in the water are highlighted which gives this photograph texture within this photograph.

I photographed this image at Wilpshire train station where there was a little gap in a wall I really thought this was an exciting image as the steps in the background are really light but not too light and also how much texture there is within this image as there is rubbish on the grass verge were I made sure to capture that bit  as the most important to make this photograph stand out.

This photograph is of a piece of apple on a birds table This image is very interesting with the depth of field on the green bushes behind which helps distract the harsh green colours and directs your eyes to detail within the apple and the bird seeds I think this is a really strong image.

This photograph is all about composition as its very central and very basic but gives a really good composition and meaning. this is very ascetically pleasing because of all the different tones of greens within one image.

This photograph caught my eye because of the different contrasts within the wood which looked really pleasing using a soft tone of black and white.

This photograph I captured at Dolphin Home it was a wooden Door leading too a barn. I think the contrast within the door its very dark and grainy making a rough texture within this photograph.

This photograph is of a blossom tree looking up the tree with a little bit of depth of field at the bottom, I like how its very contrasty and and the blossoms almost blend in but the contrast of the dark branches bring the photograph to life.

This photograph is of a Classic Mini I used Sepia Tones as I think it brings the image to life and makes it look old like the car itself it does it justice within the photograph.

the contrast in this photograph are very good.

This image is a piece of film that I developed but burnt the film but I experimented by scanning the film into the computer and making this a digital image of burnt film I turned the contrast up slightly too. I like the fact you can just see a slight bit of the models face.

This Photograph is of my niece who i captured as a not a staged image she was just stood talking as I thought it would give a natural effect to the photograph which I think it did.

the use of black and white with this photograph really makes it stand out and look delicate which i think for a small child really makes the face stand out. also the composition within this photograph is very central that makes the photograph very ascetically pleasing.

Photograph Number One.
I Photographed this image from above my subject in the bath to capture the whole image in. i used the torch on a phone to form the light to just gently hightlight the feathers making them highlighted from the subject which i thought really worked.
I used black and white within this photograph as it really helps make the image stand out and make the image have more meaning than just a photograph. I also used vignette a very harsh deep one to show there is a sadden subject behind this photograph.

This photograph shows the subject looking at the mounds of feathers which they are holding and the expression shown on the face is a hoarding and wanting to keep them for ever without separations.

I used medium tone of black and white which If I had to change I would use a softer tone of black and white.

these photograph have great storeys behind them and not just a photograph.

The use of the soft tonal of black and white really contrast the photograph.

Photograph Number Four 

This photograph shows the subject looking directly at the camera I like the composition within this photograph there being alot more free space at the front on the image than there is at the back of the model.

This photograph is slightly to contrast if I had to re-shoot this photograph I would use less contrast within the this photo

This photograph is the same photograph as the one before just an original coloured one which I didn't think really worked with such a saddened subject it looked better and a much stronger image in black and white.

Different types on Mental Health llnesses,

Anxiety: 

People with anxiety disorders respond to certain objects or situations with fear and dread, aswell
as the physical signs of anxiety or Nervousness, such as a rapid heartbeat and sweating.
An Anxiety disorder is diagnosed if the person cannot control the response is not appropriate for the situation if the person cannot control he response or if the anxiety interferes with normal functioning, Anxiety disorder include. Generalized anixiety disorder, Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) obsessive - compulsive disorder (OCD) panic disorder, Social anxiety disorder, and phobia specific.



Mood Disorder:

These disorders also called affective disorders, involve persistent feelings of sadness or periods of feeling overly happy or fluctuations from extreme happiness to extreme sadness.
The most common mood disorders are depression mania and Bipolar Disorder.


Psychotic Disorder: 

Psychotic disorders involved distorted awareness and thinking. Two f the most common symptoms of psychotic disorders are hallucinating - the experience of images or sounds that are not real, such as hearing voices and delusions which are false which are false beliefs that the ill person accepts as true despite evidence of the contray. Schizophrenia is an example of a psychotic disorder.


Eating Disorders: 

Eating disorders involve extreme emotions,s attitudes, and behavior involving weight and food, anorexia Nervosa, Bulllimia Nervosa, and binge eating disorder are the most common eating disorders.


Impulsive Control and addiction Disorder: 

People with impulsive control disorders are unable to resist the urges or impulse, to perform acts that could be harmful to themselves or others. pyromania (starting fires) Kleptomania (stealing) and compulsive gambling are examples of impulse control disorders, Alcohol and Drugs are common objects of addiction often people with disorders become involved with the objects of their addiction that they begin to ignore responsibility's and relationships.


Personality Disorder:

People with personality disorders have extreme inflexible personalities traits that are distressing to the person and or cause problems in work, school,social relationships. In addition the person's patterns of thinking and behavior significantly differ from the expectations of society and are so rigid that they interfere with the person's normal functioning examples include: antisocial personality disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and paranoid personality disorder.
